When Smitten Kitchen posted a recipe of a ChocoFlan cake from the Chicano Eats cookbook, I immediately had to try it And when the author, Esteban Castillo, liked and commented on my post, I knew I HAD to get ALL the other recipes to try as well From the bright colorful cover, to the appetizing photographs, to the personal stories accompanying each recipe, it s totally delightful I went straight to the dessert section finding the traditional flan, as well as new to me recipes, like a Mosaic Gelat [...]

I have been anticipating the release of this cookbook and was so excited to receive it The recipes have a modern flare on traditional dishes that remind me of the food my abuelita makes It s so nice to be able to make posole without having to guess how much un poquito and as como to veas que este bien means The desserts look delicious and I can t wait to work my way through all the recipes.

This book is beautiful The pictures are amazing However, someone failed at crossing the t s and dotting the i s The recipe for the green pozole does not say what to do with the poblano peppers We are assuming we need to blend with the serranos and tomatillos, so we ll do that Someone should have really reread their recipes before approving this book.

I purchased this book based on reviews It is obvious to me the high reviews are based on popularity of the author and not the content of the book or recipes Upon review it is quite juvenile in the spectrum of cooking There is not one dish or recipe I choose to cook I am of the school of Rick Bayliss or other chefs I had to rate to post my reviewI would not have given one star.
