  1. This is another well written book by Silva, set largely in Britain and Europe Like many of Silva s previous novels the plot in this one has an undercurrent of the wrongs committed by the Nazis against the Jews during Hitler s reign in Germany and occupied Europe before and during the second world war The plot of this novel revolves around Nazi war crimes and the theft during the war of a previously unknown Rembrandt painting owned by a Jewish family Gabriel Allon searches for the painting and un [...]

  3. I am not sure why I decided to write my first review Probably because I want to pass pleasure on to others I happened on Silva about 6 months ago I am not sure how I missed him all these years I have now read all but 2 of all his Gabriel Allon books And will be sad when they are devoured I don t pretend to be a lit critic but I do know good writing when I see it and historical imagination when I feel it seldom And I really enjoy a book where I am fascinated by the characters, the plot makes sense [...]

  4. As the title suggests, this outstanding caper by Daniel Silva definitely has something to do with the art master, Rembrandt Try as he may the protagonist Gabriel Allon, a feared and deadly Mossad assassin as well as a world renown art restorer quite the combination, to say the least , cannot seem to cut his ties to the spy organization and gets pulled in to a case involving a brutal murder and a now stolen long lost painting by Rembrandt Silva utilizes a diverse gathering of characters art deale [...]

  5. The book is excellent, Makes for good reading about characters that may or may not exist I hope some people like therm do exist Aside from that it makes you wonder why so many EU countries are behind abolishing free speech about the migrants they have let in and how protective of these people they are over their own citizens, The ordinary people of the world don t matter when it comes to money, greed, power and control by globalist.I highly suggest you read Daniel lSilva and hopefully understand [...]

  6. The art element of Daniel Silva s Gabriel Allon books gives them something extra that differentiates them from other assassin type reads He is an assassin, but in the books I ve read he s generally doing something much complicated than going out and killing someone The back story to the Rembrandt was very moving, and Silva shows his skill in telling a story that happened long ago within the real time of the novel in a way which brings both the historical events and the current personalities to l [...]

  7. I am binge reading the Gabriel Allon books in order and this is the first one I read on my KIndle.I think it also marks a step up in the crafting of the book Don t get me wrong, I have enjoyed them all otherwise I wouln t have got to this one But the preceding ones were a little formulaic if exciting and the involvement of Art was a bit foced in some. But this was excellent in all respects and the fate of the painting was as important as any other part of the story.A great read.
