  1. Julia Carroll was a beautiful nineteen year old, with blonde hair and blue eyes Studying at the local college, not far from her family s home, she also worked and wrote articles for the college paper, which she loved Another missing girl led Julia to do some research on missing girls and what she found horrified her As she pitched her idea to her editor, she was stunned at the comments from a colleague and also the results.Julia had a happy family life she was the eldest of the siblings and in p [...]

  2. Karin Slaughter is one of those authors whom I m always hearing about but have yet to read When I came across this digital short story, I thought it was time to sample her wares.Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes is a prequel to her novel Pretty Girls A young woman goes missing in the college town of Athens, Georgia, and her description reminds Julia Carroll of herself Nineteen, beautiful, blonde hair, blue eyes Julia gradually becomes obsessed with the case and gets permission to write about it for her col [...]

  3. Horrible book It was plodding, boring, and the ending was terrible The length of the book was misleading It ended at page 75, not 115, as I expected We have Julia, a promising college student doing things like taking her sister s locket and then her bangle bracelets Boring, teenage drivel Not much of a story and then, spoiler, an ending that leads jnto the next book that I read a long time ago I have liked all the other books and stories from Karin Slaughter Skip this one

  4. 5. The female college student works at the University of Georgia campus newspaper She is surrounded by male chauvinist co workers, and manages to write her story about two women who recently disappeared one a college student the other a street person who attended the food bank shelter the protagonist works at Author Karin Slaughter coming up on the Netflix series Pieces of Her lulls the reader into a false sense of security The college student journalist goes to a bar, flirts with a stranger, gets [...]

  6. This is a short story that can be read as a standalone but is also the prequel to Pretty Girls, a full length book I have read all of Karin Slaughter s books and short stories and count myself as an admirer Julia Carroll is a college age girl who becomes obsessed with the disappearances of other girls who look similar to her She investigates on her own, and the story follows her while providing details of her life and family Slaughter is a superior writer and builds tension and dread nicely as t [...]

  7. A short story viewed almost entirely in stream of consciousness from inside the head of 19 year old college student, Julia Her fears, ambitions, self doubt, friendships, sisters all are touched on while she puzzles the disappearance of several young, beautiful women in her town As a features writer on the university s newspaper she wants to interview people who knew these young women and write a front page story Seems to be a lead in to Ms Slaughter s book Pretty Girls I appreciated the insight [...]

  8. Karen Slaughter tells a great story A story that is eloquent, and gritty, and gutsy, and could be happening to youright now Any of her books, her novellas, her musings any of them and all of them bring it home They don t feel totally safe because that s the way life is And make no mistake about it, KS can write about hopes dreams family strangers good guys bad guys whatever, and she can sink it so far under your skin that you will ask yourself if it s her talent or if it s your own memory.

  9. After finishing Pretty Girl I went straight to read this as it s the short story prequel.Reading this makes Pretty Girls even tragic after we get to know Julia as a person rather than Julia the murdered daughter The story tells us of Julia, we get to know her personality, her traits and likes and dislikes.Well worth a read and personally I don t think it matters if you read this before or after Pretty Girls.

  10. I am a huge Karin Slaughter fan I usually read her Will Trent Sara Clinton series, but was intrigued to read something different from my favourite author.Blonde hair, blue eyes, is a prequel to the latest novel pretty girls, and it builds up the tension nicely meaning you get to to the end and just have to know what happens next So much so that as soon as I had finished this short story, I ordered the full length novel Just shows what a great writer Ms Slaughter is that she can whet your appetit [...]
